they are diff speakers, i have an oversized 4x12 cab so i get more low response from each one, i do notice a compliment on the saound from each speaker, but yes the g12 is more ballsy at the low register, but i guess with the oversized cab the v30 is as ballsy, i thing the colesd cab v30 would be equivalent to the G12 open cab

Hi all, I got here a bit late Hope this place is still buzzing, no pun intended ;D

I just got a AVT100 - certainly beats my old Peavey Audition.

I got the amp second hand, and I have a few questions...

First, I get no signal out of the headphone socket. Is there something specific I need to do (setting wise), or is this a service repair?

Second, there is quite some noise when the amp is turned up on the OD2 channel - is this normal or is the valve in need of replacement? What is a good replacement valve?

Are there any recommended extension cabs? I'd like to expand the sound options at a later date.

Doesn't seem like there's a ton of activity here, but I'll post anyway. I'm new to Marshall (I've only ever had little practice amps, currently a little 15 watt Crate combo), but I found a non-working AVT-150H on Craigslist for 50 bucks, and I couldn't pass it up. Turns out the amp chips are both blown (I'm guessing the previous owner played into a too low impedance cab, since the fans work fine), but I have replacement chips on the way, and all will be well very soon.

A friend of mine is selling me a 4x12 cab loaded with Eminence Texas Heats for a C-Note, so I'll be rocking a pretty hot half stack for about a buck sixty-five. Not too shabby, I'd say, but I welcome all opinions, if anyone cares to chime in...
