Thanks. This is too cool. I'm a huge fan of Marshall's Valvestate series. I wish they had never stopped making them. I currently have 2 100 watt heads, a model 8100 and a VS100, and a AVT50 combo. Love 'em all, with the VS100 being my favorite.

You might love your AVT50 even more if you did some mods to it.

I just got my first Marshall ever, a minty AVT50 combo and I got it for free! A gift from a stranger on another forum who didn't want to go through the hassle of selling it. I just paid for UPS S&H. What a sweet deal! I'm so new to Marshalls. I've just started trying to figure out how to use it (I've always been a Fender amp guy). On the clean channel I can get those Hendrix cleans on my Strat. I've always wanted that tone. Axis Bold as Love: Wait Until Tomorrow and Little Wing. I just wish that channel was louder without pushing the gain. I can see I will have a lot of fun with my Les Paul and the distortion channel. I just haven't had the time for that yet.
I'm curious - what all tube Marshall is the AVT50 closest to in sounds and capabilities?

What a great deal! I don't think the AVT sounds like any tube amp that I have tried but it also doesn't sound like any solid state amp either. It just sounds like a good amp, with the benefit of sounding good at low volumes. \m/

Hello All, Glad I found this message board! I bought my AVT50 combo brand new in '03 or '04 and still love it to this day, the only mods Ive done to it are changed the speaker to a V30 and opened up the back of the cab a little. I cant believe all the haters of this line, they must of never tried this amp or are so brainwashed by the tube vs solid state argument that they already decided there never going to like it no matter what. Seriously, I have other amps ( Marshall 1974x , Fender Pro Junior & Crate VC 2110r another under appreciated amp due to the name on the front, not the sound it makes.) I just really like this amp. Its got great tone and is easy to live with, what more could you ask for?

Cool board. Not enough AVT love over at the Marshall Forum.
I got an AVT 20 last year, and it's my main small club gig amp. The DI out works great in to the mains.
I had a VS65R a few years ago, but sold it. I'd really like to have that one back. In fact, I'm shopping for one now. Either that or an AVT 50.

Aw, another activist for the AVT series amplifiers. Thank god, I'm not crazy for liking them. Today I was just thinking how amazing it is that I can play the AVT at low volumes and still get amazing tone. What would I do with out them?

hey you all, i love my avt50, my dsl and my MG10 yeap i use tehm for diff situations and they all do work really good for what they are
particulary my avt50 was my main amp before my dsl100, had a V30 in it and an external G12H30 (anniversary) and i loved it, had to put back the stock speaker when i took the 2 speakers to complete my 4x12 for the dsl and some of the magic went away
Anyway i like the OD channel with the stock speaker, what i think i don´t love much now is my clean channel, too basy, i´ll make it an open back amp and see how it goes, ill try the boost option showed here on this forum and see how it goes.
Finally i would never part my AVT50 neither i´ll part my DSL or MG
Hope i can learn a bucnh from you guys

How do you like the G12H30? Does it give as much bass response as the Vintage 30?
