Hello, I have an avt275 which offers plenty of gain, but goes fizzy and lacks definition the higher the gain on the crunch and lead channels. The clean channel is great, breaks up for a bluesy/rock sound, no problem there. This fizziness, is it common on these amps and is there a cure? I've also got a Haze and it hard not to compare the 2 of them.........but the avt's gonna need to improve or its gotta go

What tube do you have in it? That would be the first place I would look.

I tried a Tung-sol 12ax7 in it - that made no difference. Too much tube gain is what your thinking?

Too much tube gain is what your thinking? Possibly, I put a GE 5751 in my AVT50 and to my ears it helped out. A 12ax7 has a gain factor of 100 and a 5751 has a factor of 70. Its not a huge drop but it helped clean things up a little bit. I have a couple of NOS tubes and you can definatly hear a change from one tube to the other even the same brand/type.
