Hello, Im new to the board. Im picking up a Marshall AVT50w combo tomorrow from a hole in the wall pawn shop in Alabama for $150 w/o the foot pedal. From what I can see adnd hear the amp is good to go. I currently have a Peavey 30w Vypyr.
Is there anything I should look out for on this amp? What upgrades if any would you reccommend? Is the footswitch still available? Any info is GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Oh and is $150 a good deal for the amp? Thanks in advance!!!!!

First off, welcome. Yes you can still get a footswitch, most single button switches should work for it. There are 2 problems that I can think of off hand. First a lot of people have complained about the fan being noisy and or failing. Check that it dosnt make a lot of noise when it's runing as well that it actually is working. Second I have heard people that have R58 burn up. I have had mine burn as well as the fan quit.
As far as price, there is a AVT50 combo on ebay in the completed listings that went for $225 buy it now. Based on that it seems like you are getting a fair price.
Upgrades: unplug the reverb, change the tube. You might even like it the way it is. I played mine a few years before changing the tube, adding a footswitchable gain boost, adding mid and bass shift controlls to the distortion channel.

Thanx Fixr. If the R unit were to burn up is it possible to relace it as well as the fan and other parts? Thanks!

Thanx Fixr. If the R unit were to burn up is it possible to relace it as well as the fan and other parts? Thanks! If you are good with a soldering iron its pretty easy. You have to remove the whole board from the chassis, unsolder the bad resistor and solder the new one in. Fan has a few bolts holding it in.
