New Member & AVT50H Owner

Greetings all!

Just happened across this forum last night and, though small in numbers, it looks like it has a promising future!

Owner of an AVT50H (into an AVT 4X12 Cab) as well as an AVT20. The only fiddling I've done is to replace the tube with an Electro Harmonix which seemed to improve things a bit. I also just purchased a JJ gold pin ECC803 S marked as high gain which I'm anxious to try.

I'm kind of stuck in the late 70's, early 80's metal for the most part (although I do dig bluesy stuff like SRV...). Just got my strat back today after having a DiMarzio Super Distortion S installed in the bridge. With that, and an overdrive pedal, it sounds pretty good!

Again, just wanted to drop in and introduce myself and say hello!

Welcome. Yes it is very scarce around here lately. I still pop in to see if anyone is still posting.
I too have the AVT50H and matching cab (slightly modded).

Mine came stock with a EH 12ax7. I ended up with an old GE 5751.

Are you running the stock speakers in the cab? I haven't even opened mine to see what stock is...probably Celestion, but what model? I'd change them out, but for the price of speakers, you can buy a good used 1960A.....

Yea I'm almost positive the stock ones are celestion and yes I am still running them. With the AVT head its a little muddy sounding compared to my TSL but otherwise they aren't bad.

Just put a better Celestion in there with a heavy magnet. My AVT100 combo improved massively after doing this.
